"Knock, and it Shall be Opened unto You."

Another Guest post, written by one of my previous companions. Elder Skidmore, From Manalapan, New Jersey. How do you find answers in your life?

Many are familiar with the scripture found in Matthew 7:7.
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

Whenever we are faced with important decisions it is almost an immediate reaction for us to ask advice from others.  Whether it deals with school, work, future career options, family life.  The most important person we can ask is our Heavenly Father through prayer.  If we ask in faith we will receive.

In addition, we can show our desire to know the answer as we study the direction that has already been given to us in the scriptures.  When we "feast" upon the scriptures we are promised that they will tell us all things that we should do. (2 Nephi 32:3)

So in our quest we have received an answer that is from God.  It is then up to us to have trust in God and act and the answer received.  We have knocked on the door, it has been opened, we must step through the doorway in order to attain the blessings that are promised from following his guidance.

There have been so many times of my life where I have wanted to know what the best decision was.  I would study it out, I would pray, but my answer was something, out of doubt or embarrassment, I did not want to do.  As I prayed for strength,  I received it.  Allowing me to increase my faith and understanding of God's will before my own as I acted in the way I had been shown.
