I didn't see!

So a couple of days ago, I rolled out of bed at the regular 6:30. And I bashed my nose into my bedpost. Why in the world would I do that? I sure didn't want to, I didn't preconcieve that I would do this when I woke up. I don't particularly like pain...or blood. So why did I do this?
It's interesting, as we ask ourselves why we suffer consequences. Sometimes we don't see what our current actions will lead us to do in the future, and how our environment affects what we choose to do. Sometimes
we might find ourselves wondering, "Why do I have this heartache?" and saying to ourselves "I didn't want to feel guilty." or "I didn't want to hurt my family. I didn't think things would happen this way." But the fact is, once we get to this point, there is no undoing it. Once I bashed my nose, there was going to be blood, and bruising.
The Lord, because he loves us has given us a way to prevent unnecessary pain, and sorrow. Just imagine if when I had woken up, there was a light on. I probably would have seen not to roll into the bedpost. Some of you are probably thinking I was an idiot to do so anyway..."I didn't see."
Turning the light on in my room would have saved my snoz. Likewise, turning the light on in our lives can hedge up our hearts.
How can we turn the lights on in our lives? The very first thing, is by finding the light. Find God. Pray to him, ask him if he is there. Ask him for help in your daily life. He cares. Then do what he asks you to do. Go to http://mormon.org/commandments/ to see how you can lighten up your heart. I know that as you live the commandments given by God, you are given a greater peace than you could ever find on your own.

I'll be honest, this one made me laugh-- but it also has a great message. I liked the metaphor! Thanks for sharing, Elder!

I laughed. :) I wish I could have seen it. It also made me think though, so I guess it served it's purpose.
