Embarrassing...I think yes!

People do crazy embarrassing things to get page views, whether it's on youtube, or even here on blogspot. Do I think I am above them? No, on the quite contrary. I think I will join them. I will now write about something so embarrassing, I will not be able to show my face in my hometown for another 8 months...AT LEAST!!!

I'm scared of spiders.

Disappointed?...probably, but keep reading the message is great.

I think all of us have fears of some kind that limit us in the things we can do. Whether that be scared of the dark, scared of open spaces, scared of missionaries (I get that sometimes). There are numerous things that we can be afraid of.
So what do we do? Do we walk around with gallons of insect repellant, or a headlamp that is brighter than most searchlights, move to New York City, and pretend to be blind and deaf when missionaries try to talk to you?

I don't reccomend that. Living in fear is and incredible tragedy. So how do we overcome it?

First...We need to realize that Heavenly Father doesn't want us to be afraid...“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” (2 Tim. 1:6–7.)
Second...We need to push past the doubt and fear, and walk in faith. "Faith and fear cannot coexist!"
Third...We need to continue building our foundation on Christ, and as our faith builds, our fears will vanish!

Try it out. I will! Here I go to pick up a spider... I'll let you know how it goes.

Hope picking up that spider went well ;) I know I struggle a lot to overcome my fears. But once I do I feel relief and empowerred! Like I can do anything. Peter had perfect faith when he first left the boat and walked on water towards Christ. It was after he looked around and fear sank into his heart that he began to sink. Have faith and don't sink! Great post Elder!
